We here at Torchwood House are doing our best to recommend good fiction in a timely manner. Our rather intense little group takes pride in our work and hopes that we've succeeded in creating a searchable archive of enjoyable Torchwood stories.

Still, that isn't for us to say. It's up to you, our visitors. Here's your chance to offer praise, constructive criticism, and suggestions for improvement. We may not respond to each and every post, but we do promise to read them all. Any suggestions which will help us bring you good stories will be snapped up and implemented.

Thank you, and enjoy your visit.

Bless, bless, bless!! I really can't thank you enough for doing this. It's so needed! I'm pleased as punch at the stories you've put up so far; your taste is impeccable.

Can I just thanks you guys again and again for creating this site?? With all of the fic swimming around out there it's impossible to get to all of it and lots of good stories are missed that way. You all have been picking great, quality stories and I love the 'Why you should read it' section.

Brilliant idea and thanks for taking the time to do this and for putting real effort into doing it right!

I have been devouring your recs - I knew some of them already, but a lot of it is new to me. I love you for it! I hadn't really found my feet in this fandom and was struggling to find the good stuff. And here it is! &hearts

I'm so happy that this comm exists. While I'm a member of torchwoodcoffee, jackxianto, and janto_recs, this is SO VERY superior!! No I'll-write-a-50-chapter-story-as-a-WIP-with-200-word-chapters-that-don't-advance-any-plot-I'm-just-a-comment-whore, blatant Mary Sues, people who don't know the difference between "lose" and "loose" (God, that's SUCH a pet peeve of mine!!), or people who rec the above. So thanks again!

(I really shouldn't complain so much, those comms were very good to me in the past. I just can't stand when people know their grammar sucks, they don't have a beta, they don't bother to proofread, they post anyway, AND THEN other people post lovelovelove comments and rec the story like it's the second coming. *Breathe* I'm okay now, sorry to rant.)

I LOVE THIS COMM! Well-written Torchwood fic is orgasmic but so hard to come by.

Thank you sooo much for existing. Checking this comm for updates is part of my daily hourly routine now. I just wish there were more great stories being written in the fandom, and hence more updates...

*keeps checking watch for Torchwood fandom to reach critical mass*

Hullo there! WHO came up with this? Can we knight him / her? Checking this comm has totally become part of my daily routine; and it's offerred me hours upon hours of reading pleasure. ALSO, LOVE the new layout.

Since folk don't often suggest we get knighted, I thought I'd say thank you for the kind comment. There were a few of us discussing the possibility when I finally bit the bullet and decided to actually take on the responsibility for taking the first step. Despite that, TWH was and is very much a group effort. The folk who make up our membership are aces as far as I'm concerned and ALL of them responsible for keeping this idea going. ::points:: You know who you are!

And, you folk who get pleasure from our efforts keep this a labor of love for the lot of us. Sure, we'd do it for ourselves, but that's just not very rewarding. Thank you!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the mods for recommending such wonderful fanfics! I've spent countless hours reading the stories and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

My primary ship is Jack/Ianto (of course!) but I also enjoy reading several other pairings that aren't as popular. I would love to see a few more Ianto/Owen, Ianto/Tosh, and Jack/Gwen stories. I'm sure there are a few writers out there that have written these, but sometimes they're hard to find.

Thanks again for running such a successful community!

Pompom waving!
Just want to say TH is a fantastic endeavour, which went straight to the top of my TW comms list and is the first one I open each day :-)) I've discovered so many wonderful authors here, whom I'd not come across before. Every fic I've read via here has so far, to me, been pure quality and it's a joy to have that level of trust in a comm.

THANK YOU so much for taking the time and effort to rec so many lovely works for us TW fansies. Yes, of course I don't read or like every single piece, but then I wouldn't want to read every single book in a paper library either! Your "no neg. crit. here" rule is spot on I think.

Anyway, long ramble just in order to say "Go Torchwood House... ra ra..."˙*\o/*

I love this community. It's pointed me to stories I wouldn't otherwise have found that are really very brilliant. Plus the whole visual design and co-ordinated icons are made of class and WIN. I'm astonished people have been negative. You guys are well-organised, comprehensive and exacting. If I don't like one of the recs, that's my preference, not a poor reflection on you.

((I find negative crit in fanfiction something very hard to deal with because to me, fanfiction is about love, not hate. Even the worst Mary-Sue is a reflection of someone who loves that fictional world enough to write about it and that's a wonderful thing, even if no-one else ever reads it.))

I have no criticisms that I can think of. I remember vaguely hearing something about themed recs, though, and I highly approve of that idea. I'd love to find more Tosh or Gwen centric stories, plus good AUs, etc.

Thanks!
thaddeusfavour on November 20th, 2008 12:24 am (UTC)
We've done a couple and we'll be doing more. We have a !themed recs tag. :P

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this, and saving me from that awful sinking feeling when you open a new story, rubbing your hands with the anticipation of a good read, and lay your eyes upon some terrible run-on sentence full of literals and comma confusion.

Your recs are great and you are great and generous for doing them. THANK YOU!

I want you all to know how amazing your site is. I have read everything that has been posted and also followed to the author journals to read more. The consistent quality of work that is posted is amazing. I had never been a fan of anything until John Barrowman came along. Now I find I am crazed, addicted and befuddled by everything that surrounds this man. Discovering Torchwood fan fiction was huge. I had read some good stuff but so much of it was poorly written and then I found you. OMG, you have brought my love of fan fiction to the same level that my obsession with the man himself has attained. The height is dizzying and I hope I never have to come down from it. I can only imagine the time and energy it takes to keep the quality of this site at such a high level. Thank you all for what you do.

This didn't fit into the 'submit fic for reccing' slot, so I figured I'd ask here: are you guys planning to continue the Featured Author/Interview idea? I liked that bit with Sam, just seems a bit lonely all there by itself. I think the feature was a good thing, a bit like a Torchwood-Declassified, if you will and interesting to read. Would be looking forward to it if you ever plan to interview other authors.
thaddeusfavour on January 22nd, 2009 02:48 pm (UTC)
We do want to have more authors. We've even been discussing who the next couple should be. It was just that RL stole much of our time and energy last fall. That's why we choose a couple of easier tasks like the horror themed recs list and the review recs list for New Year's. (Plus, rl stole our expert interviewer from us. We may have to find another one, since I've never really considered myself an interviewing kind of person.) ::grin::

Thanks for letting us know you'd be interested in that. It helps to spur us on to greater effort! :P
